US Education System v. Qatar Education System

American and Qatar are very diverse countries. This diversity is present in many areas including the culture, people, lifestyle, and daily experiences. I have had the chance to study in Qatar for a long time and I have started my studies in the US. This has given me the opportunity to examine the existing differences between the two countries in terms of their education system. The government has provided free education in public schools. One has to go through different levels including primary, secondary, and higher education. Colleges and universities in the country have many programs to choose from and this encourages flexibility and choice. When studying in Qatar, I used to take six subjects. Three classes were for standard education and the other three were for higher education. The system in Qatar is such that students use international English when learning. Therefore, the students are well versed on American and British English. Another thing is that teachers encourage creative thinking and participation of extra curricular activities. There are different kinds of public education in Qatar and they include specialized education, scientific secondary schools, secondary school of commerce, literacy and adult education, language institute, the Qatari center for the gifted and creative, and department of training and vocational development (QSA).
The American system is unique in its own respect. Higher education is not centrally organized and managed. Students have the option of attending public, private, or community colleges for study (Education USA). Teachers encourage independent thinking yet they still promote the idea of working in groups. Students in American learning institutions are fortunate because they have so many resources available to them. In addition, the teacher to student ratio makes it possible for the children to receive individualized attention when learning
It is clear that both systems are beneficial although in different ways. The American education system is important because of the availability of learning resources. However, I have learnt to appreciate both systems because they have something to offer. Each system has advantages. Therefore, I can decide to take advantage of the prevailing advantages by adopting the beneficial points from both systems.
