Savage Inequalities – The Dream Deferred, Again, In San Antonio

The white flight was created by the Supreme Court ruling that supported desegregation of public schools by introducing inner-city busing and exempted suburban district schools (Savage Inequalities). The statement, ‘the existing system is a scandal’ gives a conclusive statement about the situation of the education system in the United States of America. This is because the system encourages segregation of other students, which is morally wrong. Segregation of children in public schools is not only based on racial factors but also financial capabilities of the parents. The colored children are discriminated by the education system since they do not have the privilege of studying in good schools like the white children. Eventually, this creates a division between the two races and those who end up suffering the most in the society are the colored children.

The video illustrates how white and colored children in public schools are segregated in the United States of America. According to the policies of the existing education system, equality of all students should be upheld in all public schools (Savage Inequalities). However, this is not the case as observed by the lawsuits made by a group of parents from Edgewood school against the state of Texas and numerous other schools stating that the colored children are discriminated in schools. However, the ruling made by the Supreme Court proved otherwise because it gave a ruling in favor of the government stating that education is not protected by the constitution. Eventually, the court decided to support desegregation of schools through inner-city busing that was not liable to the suburban schools. The whites ultimately fled from district schools. The government cannot be able to curb segregation because it is supported by the law.

Moreover, the whites are high-income earners compared to the colored people. Both of these two races are taxed equally since no taxation scheme has been formulated in order to stop discrimination. Hence, the colored people end up settling for schools with low quality standards in education. This has also been caused because of liberty and equity claims in public schools by both local controls and federal intervention. As a result, children of Fargo, North Dakota and Nashua, New Hampshire do not pledge allegiance to the flag because the education system does not abide by it.
