Reflection

The lecture enabled me to have a rational view of religion, realizing that no religion is more superior to the other; what matters is how relevant and meaningful it is the believer. Religion is not a means of showing importance over others. The intention of religion is to help us understand that there is a purpose in life. It has enabled me to be in a position where I am able to define religion and explain its relevance to others, understanding that it is something beyond the material and visible things in life. Religion invokes reasoning and ideas.

By learning about the different forms of expression in religion, I am able to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of religion. It helps me realize that one not only needs to believe, but to act upon it. It also helps draw the believer to people sharing the same belief in order to strengthen their faith. This unit has taught me that religion as it is today has undergone various phases and they have all made an important contribution in shaping modern religion. The purity of religion has changed due to influences of different lifestyles, adapting to secularism. I now understand that diligence and wisdom is important in discerning religion, as its post-modernization leading to organized religion has some brought about negative impacts in the world.
