It is evident that remixing is a common practice in various arts such as music and writing. Remixing can be understood as a critical form of innovation that takes a variety of approaches in developing new material. In developing a remix, I will utilize the Windows Movie Maker to redevelop existing works and accommodate innovative aspects. I selected a music video titled Roar to include new aspects of the film. The decision to select this video was based on the need to provide a new insight and incorporate new elements into a diverse existing works. Roar is an appealing video and music composition by an American based artiste renown around the world for her exceptional vocal skills. In addition, the selection of this video was informed by the inspirational nature of the lyrics used by the artiste. In addition, it provides me with a platform to incorporate new elements that would represent my ideals, identity, and beliefs.

The selection of this digital product is informed by the need to identity one’s character with the theme of the song. In addition, this is also indicative that language in its various forms is functional given that it serves a specific purpose. Its primary functions are to deliver inferences or meanings with these meanings being products of influences by various factors such as cultural and social contexts within which language is used. The selected video was driven by the need to identify with the various meanings of human behavior such as fear and courage to overcome various challenges. The song is indicative that remix is a language that is semantic, functional, semiotic, and contextual.

The rhetorical approach gives preference to invention whereas functional grammar in language is associated with the effects of invention or innovation such as in the case of developing a remix. This includes issues such as arrangement of the new works, memory, stylistic approach, and subsequent delivery of language to the targeted audience. In developing this remix, the focus is to ensure effectiveness in persuasion, clarity in expression of ideas, audibility, and use of imagination.
