Personality Inventory Assessment

Based on the results of a Human metrics Jung Typology Test, the overall personality that was revealed was an ISTP type, which stands for Introvert Sensing Thinking Perceiving. According to the type, the individual is more inclined towards introversion, a preference for sensing, an insignificant predisposition towards thinking in relation to feeling, and a moderate tendency towards perceiving in comparison to judging. In addition, the respective traits evident within the ISTP adhere to the four dimensions that define personality type in relation to Myers-Briggs and Jung’s theories on personality type. For the ISTP type, the aspect of introversion is significant since it defines their overall personality. Hence, in a workplace environment that requires the need to be sociable with other members, the ISTP type may find it inhibiting to be participatory within the respective exercise.   

From the assessment, it is clear that a significant amount of the respective outcome was surprising to a considerable extent. Foremost, the ISTP personality type largely resonates with a tendency towards technical or vocational programs, which tend to be prevalent in the industrial arts. Another surprising aspect was based on the desire for private space. Accordingly, the ISTP type normally gravitates towards a personal space. This predisposition for privacy usually imposes a considerable effect on the relationship of the individual in question with other persons within the same environment. However, a rather interesting aspect involves the respective personality type’s need for abstract and rote learning. This provides a rather flexible and dynamic aspect to the individual in question due to his possession of an introverted way of thinking and an extraverted manner of sensing.

Undeniably, the results provided from the strengths and overall personality inventories may be applied in the identification of personal strengths and limitations. In terms of the strengths, the respective inventory shows evidence of a flexible and dynamic aspect. From a personal point of view, possessing such aspects allows me to think “outside of the box”. Rather than rely on theoretical assumptions and hypothetical situations, it is much easier to depend on the facts that underlie a particular incident. This further explains the inclination towards vocational and technical programs, which are more hands-on and provide significant contextual and personal experience. On the other hand, the limitations are based on the introverted aspect of my personality. Because of this, it might be difficult for me to take part in group-based activities, which tend to be common in workplace environments in respect to activities such as strategic thinking.

In relation to the potential strengths and limitations that have been identified based on the aforementioned inventories, it is possible to utilize the respective outcomes in order to recognize the strengths and weaknesses that I may possess as a future Chief Information Officer. Regarding the strengths, the predisposition towards dynamism and flexibility may actually be a desirable quality. The CIO usually engages in strategic preparations that reinforce the organization in the event of disruptive changes, which are generic within the IT-based and general environment. As such, the CIO must be flexible and dynamic in order to adjust to the implications that arise from disruptive changes within the environment. On the other hand, the limitations that are derived from introversion may affect me as a future CIO. This is because the respective role requires great communication skills, which are imperative especially in driving institutional change and challenging bureaucratic views surrounding policies, paradigms, and processes.
