Personality Assignment

Openness to experience/intellect, which was the first continuum of the test, gave me a four-percentile rating. The low percentile means that I prefer traditional and familiar experiences. The second continuum on conscientiousness gave me a sixty-four percentile rating. The percentile suggests that I am well organized and reliable. The third continuum on extraversion gave me a thirty-one percentile. Interpretation of the percentile suggests that I tend to shy away from social situations. The fourth continuum on agreeableness gave me a ninety-three percentile. This means that I am good natured, courteous and supportive. The final continuum of the test on neuroticism gave me seventy-six percentile. The high score suggests that I am anxious and nervous.

The findings of the big five-personality test were expected though not in such deep extremes in some continuums. The third and fifth continuum test on extraversion and neuroticism respectively over stated my personality. Indeed, I get nervous and shy away from social situations, but not to such extremes as depicted by the test. The other three tests can be said to fall well within range of defining my personality. Comments from family and friends over time have revealed my personality as well-organized, supportive, good natured and conservative meaning the test was accurate.

The big five-personality test as a comparative test with other individuals has highlighted the points where my personality lacks. Referencing acceptable social behaviors, adjustments in the first and third continuum have to be made. My tendency not to indulge in new experiences has to change to allow me to participate in activities that are more social. I believe a change in the first continuum will directly lead to a change in the third. The ratings from the test do not influence who I am as a person, but they assist in modifying who I am to who I want to be.
