Question 1

It is highly unethical to pay the tribal suppliers a palsy amount as compensation for all the wild cats that the MIC team purchased. The animals were the main producers of a medicinal element that formed the cornerstone of the cure and trading in these valuable animals for ten ounces of gold. In such a financial transaction, the tribal suppliers should be compensated in equal measure to the value that the medical companies will receive from the drug they will manufacture. In Proverbs 3:27, it states that ‘withhold not good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it’ (The Holy Bible ch. 3; v27)

Question 2

The MIC and AH were obligated to release the news about the discovery they made concerning the wild cats. The discovery of the medicinal value of the livers in the cats was a significant development in the global medicinal setting. Many patients suffering from tumors would benefit from the medicine that would be manufactured en mass after this discovery was publicized. Therefore, MIC and AH were obligated to disclose the information on the discovery.

Question 3

The ethical decisions would be to maintain the integrity of the wildcat species. Therefore, MIC and AH should make an ethical choice and release the animals back into the bush. This is because the wild cats were extracted from their natural habitat and restoring their numbers back in the African bush was essential. The government should also create a body that would be responsible for overseeing the conservation of the cats. This is because private companies are focused on making profits and therefore, act in unethical ways that may jeopardize the population of the cats (Wheeler, 2007). Conversely, the government is more interested in conserving national wildlife resources.
