Music and Drugs

Individuals take drugs based on various reasons. These reasons include psychiatric, spiritual and recreational uses. Foremost, the psychiatric use of drugs involves the use of specific medication in order to alleviate mental distress. Usually, patients attending psychotherapy receive prescription to partake psychiatric drugs as part of their therapeutic treatment. The spiritual use of drugs involves using psychoactive drugs in order to induce an alleviated state of which users regard as the manifestation of spiritual state. Recreational use, on the other hand, involves using psychoactive drugs for the purposes of experimentation and enjoyment.

Various genres of music incorporate several features that induce a psychedelic state among individuals. Usually, music incorporates various features that enhance the motivation among humans. This propels the brain to release dopamine in order to enter into such an induced state consistently. Nonetheless, features within music such as the series of notes entice a person into receiving psychedelic effects. This is because one note does not induce pleasure. As such, music comprises a series of notes that the person follows in order to value it. As such, the sequence of notes organized in time creates climax, expectation and probability.

Personally, the main incentives leading to the experience of a change in time or space arose from the effect of music. Notably, a genre of music such as trance incorporates feelings of intense excitement and considerable delusion. Following from this, a night out at a club initiated a temporary change in time and space based on the trance music. The use of synthesizers, computer-produced beats and sophisticated studio effects induced a state of hypnosis and extreme exhilaration that truly distorted my perception at the time.
