Education is a critical component of human development as it involves the transference of knowledge, skills, and culture onto individuals through instruction, training, and research activities. The focus of this paper is to provide an in-depth analysis of ministration of the field of education in Saudi Arabia. This involves a critical review of the existing philosophies that have been used to develop the entire education curriculum as well as influencing the various educational policies in the country. The passivity refereed to by the author is present in Saudi Arabia and is largely associated with the high levels of inequality and discrimination base don on gender, race, ethnicity, and social classes within the country. He notes that fear of calling out the inequalities in the country is because of the delusions of paranoia, which result in restrictions of individual freedom.

Zimbardo lines the physical incarceration institutions to restrictive social practices such as sexism, failure, despair, and racism that have become common issues in modern and advanced societies such as Saudi Arabia. Sexism is a sensitive issue in Saudi Arabia given that it has a basis from Islam that affirms the presence of gender roles and restrictions. This is indicative that there is urgency in the need for reforms in ensuring parity in the entire education system in terms of elimination of cultural and social constructs of sexism, and racism. Walker Percy in The Loss of the Creature is indicative of the role of change in transformation of individuals and society. his work focuses on the consequences of blind conformity (Percy 43). He attacks the resistance to change and the role in plays in loss of identity given the presence of preconceived ideals of success, life and societal structures.

This is illustrative that change is inevitable and mandatory of subsequent existence. It repudiates the role of adherence to regulations, ideals and philosophies the erode identity and hope. Thus, there is a need to reevaluate the existing educational policies that have been responsible for affirming the stereotypical attitudes, ideals, and values and in the process distorting efficiency and equality in delivery of education and imparting skills to the youthful population. Plato’s Allegory of the Cave provides an overview of the role of education and its lack on human life and development. He notes that shadows have different meanings to educated and uneducated individuals.

Plato’s view indicates that education plays a critical role in enlightenment of individuals and more so the society (Plato 39). It provides them with knowledge, skills, understanding and imparts a culture which is critical towards a liberated a future. Thus, education should be used in Saudi Arabia as a means of elimination of various stereotypical attitudes, values and culture such as sexism, social inequalities, and racism. The three texts indicate that education is critical towards social change. It can be used as a means of ensuring achievement of social equality by elimination of poverty and class structure, gender parity, racism and ethnic discrimination.
