Mike Parton and his Change Management Strategy

Mike Parton as the CEO of Marconi Inc. sought to bring changes in the company that would revive the company back to its glory and restore the people’s faith in it. Some of the major changes he proposed revolved around the leadership, culture, business processes, and the employees themselves. The company was in heavy debt and the restructuring he proposed seemed to work, as in three months the debt had significantly reduced. His plans in implementing the changes in the company were very impressive because they worked tremendously. He recommended the leadership style where the leader includes people in the decision making process, so that the employees can feel as though they are part of the company. I found his strategy, which was to begin the changes from the basics to be quite effective. Issues such as being robust in execution of plans, being committed to work, and establishing a growth platform are important and the fact that Mike Parton saw the importance in these elements was quite remarkable.

In addition to the mentioned changes, he required a change in the management style from the managers for effective management. He expected a change in their behaviors. For instance, he expected the managers to challenge the status quo and improve on their business performance. Confidence, unity, and being respectable were three important elements in being a great manager. He also expected the employees to be more proactive in the improvement of the business by being forward with any issues they had. I think that his change plan was exemplary and remarkable, to an extent that it made the country rise from the doom that was lurking in the near future.
