Israel-US relations and the Game Theory

The United States has often been accused of being a tool in implementing Israeli strategies in the Middle East. Majority of the terrorism activities in the world trace their roots in the defense of the state of Israel. The militarization of the Afghan Mujahidin by the US was to condition the Soviet to allow emigration of Jews into the newly formed Israeli State. US have been openly pro-Israeli in the enduring Israeli – Palestinian conflict. The influential Pro-Israel lobby groups often pressure the incumbent administrations to make decisions favorable on the Jewish state. They have been accredited for the US attack on Iraq and Libya. Israel acknowledges that it is surrounded by enemies and in order to survive it has to forge a preemptive attack on the social structures of the surrounding states in order to weaken them.

Game theory planners, in this instance, the Jewish, start depending on the reactions of its enemies and allies. Similarly, it places the players in situations where the choices are either mutual destruction or survival, implying strength in unity. It showed the US that it is bound to benefit from attacking Iraq by preventing Sadam Hussein from building nuclear weapons. Concomitantly, Israel benefited by keeping Iraq too busy to strategize against them. By utilizing game theory to anticipate a state’s reaction, the aggressor provokes the said state and directs its reaction towards a preconceived target. In 1986, Israel launched Operation Trojan, which created the illusion that the Gaddafi’s administration in Libya was transmitting radical instructions to its embassies abroad. The gullible US fell for the trick and even went to the orchestrators, Israel, to confirm whether the risk was valid. Subsequently, the US and its European allies dropped bombs into Libya, Israel’s target, as a preemptive strike.
