Face Veil

The main idea of the essay is a personal response from a Muslim woman towards the constant attacks and pressure about the face veil, which she puts under the scrutiny of the public eye. It focuses on delivering the reasons to her choice of the Islamic clothing especially due to the pressure of enabled freedom in America, identity crisis and opinions from the external environment. The audience of the essay target is the public and non-conformist to the Islamic representation of maintaining religious traditions and expectations of a woman. It is aimed at the public since there are varied reactions to the face veil used as a form of clothing in the society today, while there is need to address the issues concerning stereotyping and negative influence through religion. The essay is not biased since the author responds to the general claims and opinions towards the marginalized group in the society. In addition, it is a personalized response and therefore there is freedom in the manner of expression especially towards the audience.             I feel that the issues raised by the author are legitimate especially towards freedom of choice, respect to religion and marginalized stereotypes by members of the society. The author is being victimized by society due to her preferential dressing as expressed by religious beliefs and maintenance of tradition. It is wrong at all levels. It should be abolished, as it is a form of discrimination. Freedom means that there is power entrusted on an individual towards his or her actions, thought, and speech without any form of restraint. There should be no subjection towards a certain criteria as protected by the constitution. The essay plays into the ideas of racism since the author is Muslim and is targeted by different nationals in the country. The attributed freedom from oppression is ironic especially when the demands placed on the author according to dressing, conflicts with her personal choice of clothing and identity. In addition, the author’s stance as a liberated and free woman in the modern world ought to be respected. The essay raises issues on racial discrimination in accordance with the events regarding national security in the country. By targeting the Muslim author, there is concern on the effects of war on terrorism towards Islam. The face veil as described by the author signifies adherence to religious requirements to Allah. Sanctity and dignity towards the preservation of the individual’s future marriage is also worthy of maintenance without interference despite the representation of Islam followers and supporters of terrorist activities. Despite the challenges faced in ensuring national security, marginalization of people due to clothing, religious affiliation and racial backgrounds should be eliminated.
