Ethics in computer science refers to the set of moral guidelines that regulate the application of computers. The regulations place value on what is correct and wrong in the use of computer technology. The ideology of ethical computer applicability was first established in 1950 by Nobert Weiner, a professor at MIT. Ethical judgments vary depending on personal views as computer ethoses are categorized into four approaches. These are realism, idealism, pragmatism, and existentialism. Common issues under computer ethos include copyrights, privacy, intellectual property, and socio-economic impact of the technology. As the internet and computer advancements continue to progress, the societal impact of the technologies equally grow bigger necessitating control of how much the innovations influence communication and artificial intelligence. Workstation ethics operate in two parts. First, the guidelines analyze the social impact of the gadget and then formulate justifiable policies for correct integration. Computers have a wide range of applicability making them critical benefiting machines. The extensive merits of the innovation are what necessitate control as too much of something good is toxic.

In recent years, ten commanding principles have been globally accepted as computer ethics. Commonly referred to as the Ten Commandments, the principles streamline personal and group integration of computers. The established regulations are, one, do not use computers in ways that hurt people. Two, do not interrupt other person’s computer files. Three, do not interfere with people’s files. Four, do not cyber bully. Five, do not bear false witness through a computer. Six, do not duplicate materials or software without authorization. Seven, do not use other persons’ computer resources without permission. Eight, do not correct another individual’s output. Nine, consider social consequences of a program under your development. Ten, always use workstations in manners that ascertain respect for other individuals.

Workstation guidelines gave transformed my life by learning the way I use computers avoiding any illegality and interruption of another person’s work. In detailed depiction, the ethics have influenced my life in several ways.

Prevention of Personal Information Misuse

Personal data handed in online transactions has become more secure. Business individuals and enterprises marketing products online together with other professionals adhere to privacy policies written before electronic payments using credit cards or direct account transfers. The online payment methods require release of personal information leaving an individual susceptible to data leaks. Integration of ethical computing in the transactions has made the financial processes more secure and trustworthy.

Professional Conduct Attainment

Integration of ethics transforms an individual’s conduct into a more professional and societal acceptable nature. The good characteristic is advantageous in the maintenance of various technology-based jobs, as I possess the cognitive decency not to pry into other people’s data and work. In addition, the acceptable behavior facilitates avoidance of illegal downloads and installations of software that can cost the employer millions in terms of legal suits. Moreover, cases of fraudulent duplication and plagiarism of information is avoided securing my job and saving the company expenses.

The capabilities of a workstation remove the aspect of viewing it simply as an electronic device. The innovation is a communication platform, data store, social network, and calculator. Dependent on the user, computers can cause extreme good or bad. Integration of ethics has established my computer as good productive work environment free from viruses associated with downloads. Additionally, the PC lacks any personal information on other people.
