This story discusses the wide variety of food that originates from different regions of the world. Apart from simply capturing the culinary experiences of these foodstuffs, it is also imperative to analyze their contents and a personal experience of their taste and feel. The best meal for Michelle Partidas is lasagna while her least favorite is oysters. While she lacks adequate skills in cooking, she also prefers most of the vegetables apart from peppers. If she had to eat a strange food, it would be a cake covered with ants. An alternative to that would be French fries dipped in Wendy’s ice cream. It was a relief to hear that she had no known allergies. Michelle Partidas originated from Venezuela and some of her native dishes include arepas and empanadas. An arepa can be described as a flatbread formed using ground corn flour that is common to the tables in Columbia and Venezuela.

Arepas can be alongside other dishes such as cheese avocado. On their own, they can make tasty sandwiches when split and filled with avocado. Empanadas can be described as stuff breads of pastries that are prepared by either baking or frying. It is made by folding the dough or bread with stuffing consisting of a variety of meats, cheese, huitlacoche, vegetable, fruits, and any other stuffing. The next account is journal 2 titled remembrance of things past. This story is about a memory being recalled by remembering the culinary composition of a certain dish. The narrator talked about Korea and his family’s tradition of visiting their grandmother during Thanksgiving Day. The old woman used to make her grandchild traditional Korean cookies. The grandchild really liked them and even took home a big jar. The cookies were called yakgwa. Their preparation involved collecting baking flour, sesame oil, honey, rice, wine, cinnamon, and ginger juice.

The cookies had a characteristic sweet taste and apart from that, it reminded the narrator of her grandmother. The last journal contained a diet schedule for meals that would be consumed throughout the day for two days. On the first day, breakfast would be bagel, cream, cheese, milk tea, jam, and grapes. For lunch, there were chicken wings, rice, and chocolate and for dinner, noodles were served. On the second day, for breakfast was bananas, for lunch, nuts, and a homemade sandwich and for dinner, rice, pork, chips and Oreos. In the last two days, the meals eaten could be considered “foodish products”. The combination of nutrients in the particular meals was already biased towards carbohydrates.

The bagel had no problems since it was a carbohydrate but it was mixed up with other ingredients such as cream cheese that were already pasteurized. The meal also had elements of calcium, casein, pasteurized milk, and cream solids. Many other numerous ingredients went into preparing every meal besides the five major ones. Noodles are packaged in a dehydrated vegetable covering yet it does not look anything like vegetables. The main ingredient is the powder and it is impossible to imagine what else is mixed in with the flour. Apart from the grapes, rice, bananas, nuts, sandwich, and pork, the rest of the food was industrial. I realized again how often I consumed these processed foods. In reality, they were actually prepared to taste and look good but they lacked a significant health benefits.
