Choreograph composition of the dance, Structure of the dance

The first aspect considered in the choreography was composing the dance. The result as illustrated was that the movements of the dancers were not in synchrony. The rhythm and the beat of the song created background musical scale. This feature is amongst those that distinguish contemporary choreography. The purpose of the dance was to convey the message in the song, which was a romantic piece. The movements were in groups, and then in duo interchanging as the song progressed. This is only applied for the contemporary dance. In the Jazz dance, the dancers followed each rhythmic bet in the song, which coincided with their movement throughout the entire song.

The performance skills of the dancers

There performers for both dances were quite skilled. They depicted various skills that well seasoned dancers display during any dance show. The first skill greatly expressed was the involvement of the audience during the show. Despite of some parts being solo, the performance dancing that particular part was not alone but rather involved the audience during the dance.

There were parts where the dancers where in groups, during these parts, they exhibited synchrony ion their movements illustrating the second skilled noted. The dancers acknowledged the presence of their counterparts thus all the movements were unified with the song as they gracefully moved across the floor. The facial expressions depict the dancers have perfected the skill of great performance as it is through this they connect with the audience. The eyes were gleeful and the smiles where welcoming.

The importance of facial expression cannot be undermined in dance as it controls the mood the both the dancers and the crowd. Another element illustrated was the confidence oozing from the dancers in assuring the audience that they knew what they were doing. This gave them a really great and moving performance.

The costume used, description, helpfulness and hindrance

The dance costumes were thematic. They were chosen in accordance with the type of dance and the main theme of both performances. For the Jazz contemporary, the wore pink fitting tops and stretch satin Capri Pants with black sneakers with matching pink soaks. This brought out the pop essence in the Jazz contemporary dance. The costumes were helpful as they were bright enough for the audience to see clearly the dance moves. They were also vibrant thus bringing out the theme of the song, which is catchy, and has fast beats. The satin pants clearly outline the dancers’ frames thus enhancing their movements and providing them with both comfortability and flexibility.

As for the contemporary dance, the dancers wore loosely fitting clothing and from their appearance were quiet comfortable. The costumes allowed the dancers to move freely through the stage, as the gracefulness of the movement is the key aspect of contemporary dance. The costumes also had great aesthetic relevance, which enables the dancers to convey the purpose and the meaning of the song perfectly.

The lighting, its effect in the dance

The ambience of the jazz dance was pink luminescence with green flickering lights. It created a dramatic effect and owing to the fact that the dance had a hip-hop vibe to it and a bit fast it created the perfect aura. Its effect on the outfits was magical in some sense as it exuded many contrasts between the background and the figures of the dancers almost creating a surreal picturesque.

During the contemporary dance performance, there was a change in the lighting. The choreographer employed scenography to liven the performance of the dances. It was dimly lit. During the dance, there were segregated lights when the group reorganized to a formation of two.

Personal reaction to the dance

Both the dances were marvelous and perfectly executed. The dancers were intensely involved in the conveying of the different musical and thematic expression present in the sons. The costumes won by the dancers were attractive allowing comfortability of their movement while beautifying the stage with their lean frames.
