Diversity programs are used by companies as a strategy for beating their competitors. Diversity is the distinction that employees bring to a company. Therefore, a company should have a diverse recruitment program for it to tap the different capacities. This can be achieved by recruiting from a wide range of job seekers. A strong diversity program should also be diverse in its developmental areas. The members of a department in a company, as well as the leadership, should be diverse. A diverse retention program is also crucial in a company’s program. This means that while retaining its staff, the company should look at its diversity. This will help the company to avoid retaining staff members with similarities. Another part of a good diversity program is gender. This can be achieved by considering both genders while recruiting. It should also have employees from different age groups. There is a need for the company to have youthful and middle-aged members. This is because each age group can bring different contributions to the company. This program should also look at diversity in ethnicity. This is done by recruitment of staff from a range of ethnic groups. A good diversity plan should also consider people with disabilities. A company should not leave out this group of people because their disability does not mean they are unable to perform. Therefore, when a company wants to be successful, it should not discriminate, when either recruiting or retaining its staff, depending on their ethnic background, age, gender or even if they have disabilities. This is because these diversities are important in the development of the company.
