The historical incident caused a massive loss of property and destruction with the major assault on loss of several lives. In addition, the effects of the atomic bomb resonated on the physical and biological alteration of the Japanese people. In the United States, a dilemma is faced with the construction of a national park in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The park is set to commemorate the birthplace of a top-secret mission, which led to development of the famous atomic bomb used in Hiroshima. Despite the opposition towards the move, the national park should be constructed for historical purposes.
Discussion
Hiroshima bombing of 1945 was a major contributor to ending the Second World War. The significance to its commemoration by building a national park enhances the historical aspect of peace building at the time of the war. Several nations had formed alliances according to their allegiances to the two warring sides. The war had affected the efforts of civilization, industrialization and development especially to the countries worst hit by the effects of the war (Beevor 16). After the bombing of Hiroshima, it generally necessitated for measures to end the war and human suffering. Therefore, commemoration through the building of the national park is vital in history as it facilitated the process of ending the war.
Towards humanity, it is essential that even future generations should embrace the landmark. Indeed, the national park has a negative influence associated with it since it gave rise to a tool used in destruction of property and lives to the Japanese people. In this regard, it does not seek to glorify the inhuman acts that preceded and subsequently affected the lives of the people during the war. In essence, the national park will help humanity mark the significant period as part of history as well as serve as a lesson to future generations.
As a lesson on the dangers of war and symbol of hope in humanity, the national park should be constructed in the birthplace of the nuclear bomb. Essentially, after the atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima, subsequent efforts were instituted among the developed nations towards reduction of the nuclear bomb and weapons development (Ross 22). The national park can act as the bridge towards salvaging humanity through the symbolization of hope. It signifies that human life should be valued at all costs despite the issues affecting the nations. It can also act as a reminder for future conflicts, tensions and uprising against nations, that nuclear weapons should not be developed and used at all costs.
Conclusion
The historical incident of 6 August of 1945 in which the United States Army Air Force dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima City in Japan is a significant event in human history. The incident caused a massive loss of human lives, property, and destruction. Construction of a national park in Los Alamos, New Mexico is significant as it is the birthplace of a top-secret mission, which led to development of the famous atomic bomb used in Hiroshima. The national park built will facilitate historical-record keeping of the incident and provide a symbol of hope towards humanity, act as a reminder on the dangers of nuclear development while being a place of storage on the artifacts.
