The Comcast Corporation is a company responsible for providing entertainment, communication and information services and products to the American public. There are five divisions including Cable Networks, Filmed Entertainment, Cable Communications, Broadcast Television and Theme Parks (Kang 1). Each of these divisions has a part to play in the entertainment industry and provision of services and products. The central division is Cable that is the largest with an approximated video subscribers totaling to 22 million. Residential and business customers receive services such as high-speed internet, voice services and video streaming (Kang 1). Companies such as Universal Pictures are directed by the Filmed Entertainment Division. Entertainment industries such as Hollywood and Orlando are serviced by the Theme Parks, one of the five divisions, which is part of the Comcast. In the United States, this corporation is the largest cable and network provider. It accumulates the largest revenue for as compared to other entertainment providers. In terms of providing home telephone services, the company is the third largest (Kang 1). Analysis of competitors and the measures they have put in place towards provisions of entertainment will reveal the challenges faced by Comcast as it tries to maintain its top position in the industry.

Netflix Incorporation

With more than 23 million subscribers, this incorporation is ranked the largest online movie rental service globally. It simply provides platform through which movies can be streamed as well as renting out at affordable rates DVDs via permit reply mail. The accessibility of the movies from the library is through an internet connection via devices with internet connectivity. It utilizes venues such as Nintendo Wii, Xbox and Sony PS3 to provide streaming of video games. It goes further to offer streaming services to more than an estimated 700 devices creating a diverse network of customers and clientele (Kang 1). Through this streaming service, the incorporation has collaborated with many establishments with the sole aim of popularizing these services.

Another strategic competitive move employed by the Netflix Incorporation is offering its services at affordable rates (Kang 1). The first charges imposed on providing the streaming service $9.99 for unlimited access to video streaming and receiving mail DVDs rentals in 2011. It is recovering from its stock loss, which occurred because of hiking charges of their service. By implementing another marketing strategy, which has been viewed as creating competition to      Comcast; it has offered membership for its clientele (Kang 1). Through this membership, they are allowed fast-unlimited access to TV shows and movies at an affordable price. The company has enabled its customers the ability to enjoy the variety of TV programs in the cable network by allowing them to watch as many episodes as they want at their own accord without any restrictions. The provision of mobile access to this service has been considered as profitable marketing strategy by the company allowing the customers to access their preferred programs as they go about their daily activities. These strategies have won over its former customers who had defected owing to the price hike. Thus, it quite evident judging from the services offered by the company that indeed it is a worthy competitor to Comcast.

Charter Network

It is a business entity, which offers various services in the entertainment industry. It has been ranked as the fourth largest cable company with 27.6 million customers in America. The services vary form internet network to TV and adapt net working. It mainly focuses on internet connectivity services that are accessible by tablets, phones and computers (Kang 1). Being a business enterprise it is focused on providing services that improve the productivity of other companies while still marketing itself. The company offers affordable products and services to the clientele and the important factor to consider is the opportunity it offers to both small and large businesses. The business aspect makes it competitive in the entertainment industry. Besides the internet, it is also a telephone service provider makes it even more competitive (Kang 1). It has cal centers all over the 31 states thus a vast network and many consumers. It improves other business and thus the clientele number is high increasing per year.

NFL Network

This is an American sports channel that is directed by the National Football League. It mainly features all the sporting events occurring in the states as well as international sports. The film department of this channel is responsible for the production of commercial and TV programs that are sports related. The NFL has greatly invested in this station and has seen to the recording of an approximated 4000 hours footage stored in the archives library. The network is received allover America with a household population of 70,912,000 which subscribes to the station. The competitive aspect is the sport culture in America (Kang 1). The American community loves sports and due to this fact, they are more than willing to support any network that can offer services such as live footage to games and the news pertaining to their players.

HBO

The Home Box Office Channel is a television network under the Home Box Office Incorporation. It is also linked to the Time Warner. It is focused on broadcasting movies, series, sports matches, comedies, concerts and documentaries. It has been considered amongst the oldest network stations in America owing to the fact it started its operations in 1972. It has a wide range of channels in its network. The total numbers of households subscribing for its services are 32,446,000 in total (Kang 1). It has been ranked as the second largest channel in America broadcasting over 152 countries with a population of over 115 million subscribers globally. It has also allowed other networks to air its productions thus popularizing its works, which is a great marketing strategy (Kang 1). It has aired successful series contributing to the viewer turn out. Such series include the Sopranos, Entourage, Game of Thrones and the Wire. The only issue that arises is that the company chargers high cost for its subscription thus most of the viewers watch the programs later after they have been aired via DVD or basic cable channels. However, this has not deterred the company from being watched globally as compared the American viewers. A network with such a record of accomplishment is a strong competitor to Comcast (Kang 1). Another factor consider is that owing to the fact that HBO has been in the entertainment industry for a longer period, it has gained much moiré popularity and if it implements the right strategies it might be the top entertainment network  in the nation

In conclusion, the aforementioned entertainment networks and companies offer unique services. Some offer internet services as compared to those that offer cable and DVD services. These companies have established themselves as major forces in the industry thus are worthy contenders to Comcast. However, more has to be done by the company to ensure its stays afloat and not overwhelmed by the competition ahead.
