An Attractive Woman; How She Caught My Eye

It was one of those sunny and bright days, and the weather was just right for the barbeque that my uncle had prepared. I had gone to visit him, and he had invited a few friends over for lunch. As I prepared for the day, I did not realize the pleasant surprises it had for me. I mingled with the many guests who had arrived, as the sweet smelling and hunger-enhancing aroma of different varieties of meat filled the air. I was resting, eating a mouth-watering beef burger and a cold cola when some guests arrived. The pink and white flowered sundress captured my attention. It was unusual for someone young to wear such a dress, especially considering the occasion. I gazed around and realized that every other person on the well-manicured lawn had dressed casually in jeans, tee shirts and variety of shoes, which ranged from sandals, flats to sneakers. The guest stood out from the rest of the crowd.

By then, a sizeable crowd had formed. I was not the only one looking at the girl, and I noticed many people staring admiringly at her. I decided to get closer to the mysterious figure. The dress was cut short, just some inches above the knees, revealing some perfectly long and tanned legs. Her sun streaked bright curvy hair was long and screamed to be touched. I walked confidently towards her, hands in my pocket, trying unsuccessfully to whistle a self-made tune. As I got closer, I could hear her sweet mellow voice when she talked and laughed with her friends. It was pleasant and not sharp, reminding one of those old jazz tunes that used to play on the radio. My confidence began to wane, as I got closer to her. I stopped, and felt my knees crumble. She was slender and looked almost too tender to touch.

I wondered how I could get her attention and talk to her. I was thinking of different ways such as whistling loudly, clearing my throat, or touching her shoulder. I was too engrossed in my thoughts that I did not realize when she started leaving. She walked swiftly and gracefully, as if she was too afraid to touch the ground, yet at the same time elegantly and effortlessly. She reminded me of dancers in a ballet class, who seemed to fly and float as they twirled around the dance floor. I hurried and inched closer, and as I did, I could smell her sweet fruity perfume, which seemed perfect for the occasion. It reminded me of the fruit punch I had made that day. I finally managed to get close, and she turned around as I did.

Her face resembled that of a baby. She had a round face with full cheeks, with a dimple on the left side of her face. Her eyes were a shade of blue that reminded one of the skies on a clear summer’s day. They were almond shaped, captivating and playful. They laughed with her, and they were so clear and shiny. She had long eyelashes and slightly arched eyebrows. Her lips were small and full, and they looked soft and sensual. They had a certain curve to them that made one think that she was smiling, when she was not. She had applied pink lipstick that was several shades lighter than her dress. They looked delectable and luscious, and I swallowed when I looked at them. Her teeth were like the first snow drops on an autumn day. They reflected everything around them, making it hard not to notice her pink tongue. She was slightly taller than I was, probably because of the red and shapely high-heeled shoes she had. I finally found my voice, which had become hoarse. After all the time I had spent admiring her and gazing at her beautiful features, all I managed to say was “hey”, and then I walked away quickly.
