Introduction

The story “Alice in wonderland” is a creation of Lewis Carroll, which has undergone various transformations in terms of the story line and production. The first film produced based on Carroll’s books known as Alice Book was produced in 1951 by Walt Disney Productions. It premiered in July 26th at New York, which was considered an accomplishment because the company had struggle to recreate Alice as an animated character in the preceding years. In the recent years, the plot of the film has adopted various scenes, which are different from the original. Another aspect that has changed is the casting crew and characters in the film. Additionally, it is also observable that the cinematography employed in the first movie has changed drastically as seen in the recent adoptions of Alice in Wonderland. This paper seeks to provide an analytical and comparative evaluation of the Alice in Wonderland films that include one produced in 1951 and the other in 2010.

The idea of wonderland is created when Alice tells her cat, Dinah, of leaving in mystic world called Wonderland. The idea of wonderland is created when Alice, nineteen year old when she finds herself in an awkward position (Ebert, 2010).

 

Alice’s sister is a 19 year old who keeps scolding her for daydreaming.

 

Harmish proposes marriage.
Alice spots a white rabbit wearing a waistcoat into the rabbit hole. Alice sees a rabbit wearing a blue wait coat, which leads her to the rabbit hole that she falls in (Ebert, 2010).
For Alice to enter through the door with the talking knob, she has to drink a bottle with a “Drink Me” sign, which reduces her size. She does not meet the talking doorknob or eat anything to modify her size.
She meets Dodo, Tweedledee, and Tweedledum.

 

She meets talking flowers, Dodo, tweedle dum and tweedle dee as well as Dormouse and get into argument to ascertain whether she is the right Alice.
She enlarges in the White Rabbit’s house after eating the “Eat Me” cookie when she was going to get gloves.

 

She does not visit White Rabbit. Her adventure involves killing the Red Queen’s dragon, which they call the Jabberwocky (Ebert, 2010).
She shrinks into the size of an insect after realizing the other characters want to burn the house because she has turned into a giant (IMDb, 2015).

 

She does not turn into a giant but rather the Queen’s soldiers known as the Knave of Hearts capture her and the group.
There is a mad tea party hosted by March Hare, Mad Hatter and Dormouse to celebrate Alice’s “Unbirthday.” There is no party. This scene is replaced by the escape of Alice, Tweedle Dum, and Tweedle Dee escaping from their captors. The Jubjub bird recaptures the two characters accompanyning Alice.
Alice wanders into the Tulgey Wood where she gets lost after quitting her pursuit of the White Rabbit. The Queen being informed that Alice has escaped and plans to overthrow the queen (Ebert, 2010) replace the scene where Alice getting lost scene.
Chesire Cat leads Alice into a maze, which is controlled by an evil queen known as Queen of Hearts where she join the queen to play a game called croquet (IMDb, 2015). Chesire cat lead the March Hare, the Hatter and Alice as they go further away from the queen’s guards.
Alice insults the queen, which causes her to become a fugitive as she flees from the palace.

 

Alice is a fugitive being looked for by Baryard and the Queen’s soldiers. She is able to get into the palace because the Red Queen cannot recognize her. She then steals the Vorpal sword that can kill the Jabberwocky (Ebert, 2010).
She wakes up from the dream and joins her sister for tea (IMDb, 2015). Hatter is saved from being executed and the sword is delivered to the White Queen. The last scene after the Jabberwocky has been executed is Alice sailing in a ship and blue butterfly landing on her shoulder which she recognizes as Absolem.

Conclusion

Based on the information provided, it is observable that the 2010 film adopts some of the scenes from the 1951 one but most of the scenes are very different. Hence, for this reason, it is true to view it a sequel with more improved cinematography, details, and graphics. The story line is also very different as both are about the same character but at different stages in their lives.
