The use of metaphors is through comparison of an intended image, thing, or projection to a description delivered from an utterance (Arduini 11). In the first use of metaphor, it is used as an allegory in determining the important attribute of the respective subject. For example, in the first instance, the value of the family is equated to the strength of the rock in my life. Similarly, the attributes in kryptonite as equated to taking coffee, waterfalls as fresh breath, prayer as the daily cup of tea and mother as the sun to my existence. In all examples, the attributes show priority and importance to a personal level description. The most important aspect of the metaphors in this subject is the effect caused by the lack of it. It all translates back to my personal existence in the first place before the subjects. Through the equation, comparison on a literal level cannot be achieved. For example, the unit of a family cannot be a rock in any circumstance. The same can be said of coffee on kryptonite, waterfalls and fresh breath of air, prayer, and tea as well as my mother and the sun.

            Metaphor is used to show the purposeful allusion of the two things as compared to plain language (Arduini 14). It is not pun intended and represented from the thought especially when considering the context of use within the spoken message. Thus, other than using plain language, I used metaphors to tress and emphasis the importance of the subjects. For example, the family and rock have attributed qualities. The rock is firm and its strength is unmatched. Therefore, breaking is not easy. It shows the level of unity I my family and purposeful use of strength in being for on another, and cannot be broken. Kryptonite is known to have immense power and its outpour is of great magnitude. Thus, coffee is vital for rejuvenation in my system when taken. The waterfall and fresh air are so indistinct. The waterfall acts as a source of calmness, harmony, and focus on renewed strength. It shows calmness in any situation. The daily cup of tea is equated to prayer depending on the frequency it is taken, and as such, prayer becomes important on a daily basis to my life depending on it impact. Finally, the sun and my mother enable the source of life forms. As the sun gives energy for production in almost everything, the purposeful expression can be obtained about my mother.  

            The use of metaphor as opposed to plain language offers a sense of comic relief breaks monotony and is a favorable way of expression. It ensures that there is a sense of humor within the projected image despite the intended purpose of the context. For example, rather than referring to my family as being strong, the equation to a rock presents a figurative undertone for comparison. The use of coffee and kryptonite ensures there is monotony broken especially when considering how explosive it can be. Fresh breath of air adds humorous tone considering the previous state and therefore communicates the essence of visiting the waterfall. Prayer and tea do match at all, but enables a shift from the serious nature of prayer in equation to taking tea on a daily basis. Finally, the sun’s beam and power cannot be proportional to mother’s presence, but the relief in expression explains the importance to existence.
