TSU Student Centre VS UH Student Centre
Dining options within an institution are meant to cater for the requirements and demands of the student population at all times. It requires quality service delivery while inclusive measures towards addressing the diversity entailed by the student population. At TSU, there are only three dining options at the student centre through restaurants (Rodriguez 1). The number does not provide sufficient avenues in addressing the needs of the large student population within the institution especially with differential timings of the attendants. On the other hand, UH provides for differential restaurants with various categories of services. For example, the presence of McDonalds and star bucks restaurants alongside other restaurants enable a variety of dining options for the student populations despite the demand and timings required by them. In addition, diversity of the represented cultures is addressed by the number of dedicated availabilities of favorite dishes to the concerned.
Dining options require spatial availabilities within the structures and enable environment for chatting and interaction between the attendants. The ambience and freedom provided add to the appeal of the available facilities especially with the students of an institution. In both TSU and UH the available dining options through restaurants provide for the required ambience by the students satisfaction. For example, in UH the cougar express mini market has adequate space and ambience, which enables students have their snacks and drinks while chatting as well as dining for those interested without any hustle. At TSU, dining experience is added with impetus on space, for socialization among the different groups of students at all the hours of operations and service delivery (Texas Southern University 1). In both, encouragement is enabled as it offers a differential environment from the tedious demands of knowledge acquisition.
Standardized pricing and promotions of the available dining avenues serves to encourage or discourage entry of customers. The brand recognition is accompanied by the pricing criteria of the restaurants as they strive to retain the loyal customers while encouraging new members on every day of operations. In both TSU and UH, the restaurants within the student centers have favorable pricing criteria especially with the branded ones. It is evidence by the number of students and their feedback towards the terms of services and quality of the meals provided. For example, in UH, the presence of McDonalds at the institution is proof of the favorable pricing criteria used and enabled mechanism of retaining the large student population to its services (University of Houston 1). In TSU, the same is attributed by the Sodexo catering services as it serves to include all demands of the students.
Feedback
from customers is essential in the dining options and their deliveries to the
student populations. In this respect, the management can decipher the required
menus and dishes according to the demand leveled by the customers. In addition,
it helps acquire complaints and criticisms leveled against the restaurants. In
both TSU and UH, the management of the dining restaurants has enabled feedback
avenues throughout their operations as students are allowed to raise issues
regarding the terms of services and deliveries freely without bias or rejection.
However, inclined improvements and adjustments need to be effected in both
student centers in terms of increasing the restaurants serving the entire
student population. In addition, incorporation of various facilities for
recreation and leisure can be added in order to increase the dining experience
within the facilities.
