The Nature of Infant/Toddler Care and Education

Educating toddlers and infants is different compared to educating other children. This is because they have different capacities. Taking care of toddlers is essential, as it ensures that they are able to develop and progress well. They learn in unique ways and this requires caregivers to be able to understand them. The activities that the caregivers come up with in educating the children are also incorporated in their care. As they bond with the toddlers, interact, and communicate with them, they teach them essential lessons, which help in their cognitive development, language acquisition, and social skills. The care that a toddler receives largely determines the perception that he will form concerning himself. The identity that he forms will be dependent on the care that he receives.

My perception of toddlers and infant education has changed after the readings. I have gained substantial knowledge on how they learn and how they perceive the world around them. I knew the importance of toys for play but I did not recognize them as learning tools. In addition, my perception concerning children care has changed. Taking care of children is important not only for their own safety but also for the best emotional and physical development. Children have their own way of looking at things and understanding them. Just because a child is young does not mean that he or she does not understand what he sees. However, this understanding can be enhanced by those who care for him
