Personal Interviews

            In carrying out a survey of nurses’ attitude towards Aids patients, I would prefer personal interviews as means of obtaining the information. Personal interviews will enable me acquire extensive and intensive facts about the attitude. This can be enabled through observation and probing of the respondent, while accurately noting every facet of the answers given. Flower (2013) agrees that personal interviews allows for flexibility. For example, the nurses might be in schedule or limited according to the time and location for their availability. A one-on-one interview will enable the respondent to choose the timing, location and length of the interview. It also facilitates questions in a random order. Personal interviews give the respondent ample time to make corrections as possible towards the questions asked. This is determined by the comfort ability of the response and judgment on the relevance.

            Attitudes towards care given to the Aids patients require observation. During the process of personal interview, I can be able to gauge the sincerity of the respondent’s answers concerning observation. This can be made easier if I am able to view the nurse during the operations and the kind of feedback the patient can offer through reaction. Personal interviews help obtain personal and private information from the respondent (Flower, 2013). The topic on stigmatization of Aids patients is sensitive and public relations determine the professionals to stick to a certain code of conduct and ethics. However, not all nurses are positive towards giving care and attention. This information can be achieved with confidentiality through the interview. The interview also gives room for psychoanalysis of the process while limiting chances of ambiguity. Direct questions and responses without external interference and veering off the topic are easy to achieve.
