Reviewing the John E. Mack’s Prince of our Disorder

In Prince of our Disorder, John E. Mack responds to the criticisms widely implied on T. E. Lawrence. For Mack, political responsibility seems to be the main subject of his publication based on the way he perceives T. E. Lawrence in a disparate way from historical manuscripts. In light of the information he discovers, Lawrence tries as much as possible to discover the most significant aspect of the life lived by Lawrence. As he researches, he discovers that much of what Lawrence did lies solely within the scope of political answerability. Because, Mack perceives Lawrence as a character not suitable for the period he actually occupied. His ideals of political responsibility, for the author, were factors that differentiated him from the political tendencies of the state. In the view of Mack, Lawrence was a man that was too far ahead of the time he occupied. Furthermore, the actions that he committed illustrate him as a modern version of the situations that are likely to happen to an individual who assumes excessive personal moral responsibility within an unstable political arena. Undeniably, Lawrence perceived the destruction brought by ethnonational conflict. Hi s quote “The self-immolated victim took for his own the rare gift of sacrifice; and no pride and few pleasures in the world were so joyful, so rich as this choosing voluntarily another’s evil to protect the self”  proved this (Mack 243). Lawrence perceived a reality that dominates the thoughts of people bent on delineating and exuding their individual and political identities, at the behest of their own lives or the lives of the other people. For Mack, as established within his book, Lawrence viewed in clarity the dreadful threat of such disputes, specifically in an event fueled by religious sentiment.”
