            Futurama can be credited with introduction of the first concept of networks connecting the United States nation through expressways. The reference is taken back to Bel Geddes’ automated highway system in which General Motors had built a prototype that was functional within the year 1960. Before the years of between 1928 and 1938, there had been streamlined style popular in the country at the time (Swift 23). The connection was based on steady-flow concept around the streets and designs of highways over the same period. Thus the visit by Geddes to the factory transformed, enabled a differential viewpoint as regards innovation in terms of the flow of traffic. The impact was to enhance emotional investment with the vision and progress presented by the Futurama. The movement of people and goods across the country had to have an overhaul from the traditional setup,

            The Futurama’s presentation contained model representation of terrain within the country illustrating the motor ways systems in an entire basis. The model showed no deviation from the terrains like mountains, lakes, past towns and rivers adhering to highway design principles. It emphasized on speed, comfort, economy and overall safety. In addition, it encouraged building of hope for the future especially in addressing issues of traffic congestion. Emotional investment was triggered by the realization of decongestion and need to have free flowing movement of both people and goods across the nation as a requirement for prosperity and modern living. The roads would be able to handle greater traffic, isolation on both incoming and outgoing movements would be guaranteed, predomination of pedestrians through segregation on certain units and predetermined uses of minimum and maximum speeds would be achieved with ease.
