Goal of the Assignment: To familiarize you with the literature that can inform the experience of a traumatized child, adolescent and/or their family and to assist you in the development of trauma-informed intervention and treatment plans for children and families.

Tasks: During the semester, each student will have the responsibility for identifying a topic or question to investigate. This topic or question should emerge from the discussion of one of the cases.

Approved Question: What are coping mechanisms for vicarious trauma in relation to some aspect of the trauma/case of Nadia?

After formulating the question. the student should search the literature for two empirically based articles (Nadia).

The articles should be summarized – the themes across, not each article separately – and then the findings should be applied to the case.

Format: Both and oral and written assignment. A 5-6-minute oral presentation is to be made by the student at the start of the next synchronous session. Half of the time (2-3 minutes) should be used to summarize findings across the articles and half the time used to apply the new information from the research to the case. Each student will participate in one presentation during the course. A one-page paper summarizing the findings and applying to the case is then to be uploaded online.
