Martin Luther’s Message

Introduction

One of the most iconic speeches ever delivered in history was Martin Luther King’s I Have a Dream. The centered speech was based on the social equality development in America at the height of discrimination, racism, and civil unrest because of inequality. He called for an immediate end to racism in the United States as he delivered it before two hundred and fifty thousand supporters of civil rights in Washington. He began with emancipation proclamation of 1863 before prompted discourse of I Have a Dream by Mahalia Jackson’s insistence. It was ranked as the twentieth century’s top speech due to his delivery and effect it caused throughout history. Martin Luther King Junior’s persona of patience, bravery, leadership, persistence, and trustworthiness was effective for the success of the speech aimed at eliminating racism and inequality.   

Discussion

The struggle to end segregation in the United States could not have been won in an overnight measure. It required several attempts that were spirited and steadfast in order to observe tangible results that could stand the test of time. Martin Luther King Junior had been known to be a patient man. He was involved in numerous civil rights meetings aimed at championing the success of the movements. Thus, as shown from his speech, he believed that one day, racial inequality would be outdated. He did not state that his intention was to see it succeed within a definitive short time enhancement. His virtue of patience was effective in bringing the unity of the people through the speech delivered on that day.

            At the height of the struggle for racial equality and acceptance of the minority, Protestants and marginalized groups, several atrocities had been committed against them. Numerous exchanges that engulfed in struggles, bloodshed, loss of lives, confrontation with authority was witnessed. Courage was definitely an important aspect of any individual who wanted to champion for the equal rights. Martin Luther King Junior embodied bravery in his quest and belief. He did not relent as far as any authority or passed down judgment was made regarding the civil rights movement. Bearing any thought of fear or uncertainty, he delivered the speech with a preacher’s hand, strong voice, and rock solid appearance to the monumental large crowd. The effect was felt throughout the world.

            One of Martin Luther King Junior’s greatest attributes was that of leadership. Leadership entailed the social influence in which, an individual would enlist the support and aid of other like-minded and aspiring members to affect a common course. Martin Luther King Junior stepped up in the pursuit of leadership by taking charge of the civil rights movement. He was determined to lead other African Americans members along with Protestants, and minority groups in eradicating racism, inequality, and discrimination. He lead the way by championing for the monumental meeting in which, he articulated that he was with all the vested groups. He made it clear through the speech that he was with the people and not distant. He galvanized the support through leadership.

            Martin Luther King Junior was persistent in nature. During the civil rights movements and regimes of the then president of United States, several of the activists were forcefully detained in a bid to minimize their effect on the movements. Martin was confined to the Birmingham Jail at one point due to his increased efforts. Nonetheless, this did not deter his relentless effort and persistence. As a mark of his persistence, Martin Luther King Junior encompassed repetitive and rhythmic qualities in his speech. Bold statements on the intended message to the perpetrators of racial discrimination were delivered. For example, he insisted on the activist going back to their states like Mississippi, Alabama, and South Carolina through consulted efforts to enhance the fight on inequality.  

            Martin Luther King Junior cultivated the virtue of trust through his words and actions. He had an unparalleled level of confidence in his ambition through the eyes of the people and managed to deliver his promises. He insisted on the faith of the dream to which, all people would one day be equal in the eyes of all despite their racial background, religion, and class. His solidity enabled the crowd at the day to believe and trust his utterances as an important step in the fight against racial inequality. Consequently, having the trademark speech and renewing belief of the people, his trustworthy nature prevailed through the nation as heightened forms of unity and movements were enabled. The results resonated through the eventual abolition of slavery and improved measures towards racism.

Conclusion

Martin Luther King Junior’s persona of patience, bravery, leadership, persistence, and trustworthiness was effective for the success of the speech aimed at eliminating racism and inequality. The famous speech of I Have a Dream delivered before the civil rights movement in Washington was effected due to the attributes that he possessed. Analysis of his persona guaranteed a remarkable achievement as the crowd was convinced to increase their support and champion for the equal rights of all people. Despite the setbacks, struggles and hurdles faced at the time, he managed to increase the message’s potency.
