This article is an elaborate comparison of two major literature works by Hemingway and Tolstoy. In the analysis, the author focuses on the usage of different grammatical aspects such as pronouns in creating meaning among the protagonists in both works. His discussion analyzed the state of the old man as well as Ivan Illych, two characters who experienced a difficult life at old age. The article compared the protagonists as well as the use of nada and nothingness concepts. The author’s thesis is that there is a significant similarity between the protagonists in both works of literature in terms of the choice of language. The poem talks about the life experiences of J. Alfred Prufrock, a middle-aged man struggling with loneliness and despair. He also struggles with putting himself back into the society by embracing the latest trends. One of the strengths of this publication is that it offeredwhat most authors have failed to give the audience. The poem outlines man’s plight in the modern society. He tackles the topic of alienation and loneliness through the protagonist, Prufrock. The author, Thomas Stearns Eliot is highly experienced in writing plays, poems, and short stories with the modernist theme for several decades. This makes his work very valuable in the study of literature. One of the possible shortcomings is the inappropriate use of grammar. Eliot’s linguistic strategy often clashes with the active and passive verbs and this causes elements in the poem to appear stretched and etherized. Furthermore, the unpredictable shift of tenses from the present to the past makes for confusing studying of the poem. A significant element of the poem is the initial stanza that is written in Italian. The usage of a different language is a unique occurrence for a British poet. I think that this poem is brief yet weighty in terms of passing the key message. I fully relate with the author’s need to stress on the mounting isolation in the modern society. This paper is valuable to the overall research as it offers the conventional styles of writing poetry such as repetition, metaphors, and personification.

Robert Fleming’s article covers the comparison between the works of Ernest Hemingway and Wallace Stevens. In his analysis, Fleming brings out the similarities in styles, content and particularly, the theme of loneliness. The close relationship between the two authors was equally captured in the article. The author was an English professor at University of New Mexico as well as an author of several books on American literature. One of the shortcomings of this article is its brevity. Such a comparison demands a detailed analysis that was not provided. This analysis is useful in the research as it offers a comparative analysis that is necessary in obtaining a wider amount of information for use in the final essay. Personally, I think that it was a useful piece on literature comparison. However, it is incomplete and requires additional support from other sources.

In this article, Güven attempts to apply a modern approach in analyzing one of the prominent works by Thomas Stearns Eliot. His approach involved covering the summary. However, he also delves into the use of literary devices such as irony and symbolism within the poem. Güven analysis has sufficient use of comparisons to other poems and authors. The core of his analysis involved bringing out elements of modernism in the poem’s content and structure. Samet Güven is a faculty member in the School of Foreign Languages at the Karabuk university in Turkey. He is an accomplished publisher in English literature. The significance of this article to the study of literature is that it gives the topic a modern perceptive and renews the existing information. A possible shortfall of the article is the minimal use of peer-reviewed sources in discussing the points.

The book by Ernest Hemingway contained over forty-nine short stories categorized into three major years: 1938, 1927, and 1933. The author is a celebrated American novelist as well as a Nobel Prize winner in Literature. He also contributed significantly towards developing 20^th century fiction. The value of Hemingway’s collection of short stories towards literature is immense. By developing a unique style towards writing modern, he created a new way of outlining the historical events as well as fictional ideas. His styles involved stretching small facts, applying biographical details extensively and simplicity in his prose. Personally, I think that the collection of short stories is appealing because of constructed scenes chiefly from dialogs. This collection of short stories is particularly valuable in the research as it infuses new ways of character development through dialog. The new elements can be used in approaching the rest of the scenes across different literature. While taking up a packed interior space, Hemingway’s characters are connected to a universe of action and text. He is direct and concise in a way that most writers have failed to achieve.
