Hertzberg’s Two-Factor Theory categorizes job satisfaction and motivation into two groupings of factors. These comprise hygiene factors and motivation factors. Consequently, hygiene factors cannot be deemed as motivators. Motivational aspects usually create positive satisfaction and innate to work. These factors motivate the workers for a greater performance. Such factors are known as satisfiers and involved within job performance. Employees find these features intrinsically gratifying. The motivators represent the psychological demands that are identified as a supplemental benefit. In an employee benefits plan, such motivational factors comprise recognition, a sense of accomplishment, responsibility, promotional, and growth opportunities, and the meaningfulness of the respective work. Despite the abstractness of these individual factors, Hertzberg’s premise establishes them as enduring in comparison to the hygiene factors.
