Gender Binary

            The separation of sex and gender into two distinct, disconnected, and opposite forms, raises several issues regarding expected roles and behaviors of different people in the society. The need to address the gender binary system is important since the reflection of the division creates social boundaries between masculine and feminine roles and identification of the gender expression forms. For example, any masculine identity is associated with the biological features and, therefore, is expected to enable an appearance, character traits, heterosexual attraction towards the opposite sex and behavior. In such, the gender expression witnessed as being on the boundary raises questions on the form of binary. In the society, the binary model of sex and sexuality should be discussed in view of facilitating the acceptance and thriving of all individuals. This is despite the placement on form, at any given level as shown through expression.

            Gender binary has maligned the transgender community within the social boundaries especially with help from all manner of phobias towards them and the lesbian and gay society. One of the major systems used to promote the practice is the maintained basis of patriarchy, which gives important roles and traceability of descent through the male lines. Patriarchy has always existed from generational transformations, and the promotion has limited the ability of transgender recognition as they are viewed with discernment. Acceptance and love for the differential identities in the communities should be prioritized. It does not offer absolute regard or forceful will. However, it only calls for their recognition, protection of their rights and freedoms without infringement. In the same manner, expected maintenance of their mandate and areas of jurisdiction is essential for achieving stability and success in the society.
