Accordingly, the United States has managed to increase its food production through the employment of different strategies. One of these tactics comprises the utilization of reservoirs for the provision of water. Most of the areas normally known for crop growth tend to experience low rainfall in different periods of the year. In this respect, the use of reservoir water is imperative in this process. With the subsistence of water in underground aquifers, farmers have managed to extract the respective resource in an effort to ensure consistent growth of crops as well as significant schedules of harvest (Uphoff, 2012). However, such efforts have a negative implication in the long-term. Undeniably, when the land development and agriculture activities increase or become complicated in terms of magnitude, the water that originates from reservoirs tends to be of low quality. This is illustrated by the concerns that were present in New York, specifically the Catskill terrain (Turk & Bensel, 2014).

Concerning the illustration, considerable expenses are incurred due to the reduction in water quality and the subsequent implementation of water treatment structures. Another illustration of the country’s involvement in the increase of food production is indicated through the establishment of dams for irrigation purposes (Turk & Bensel, 2014). In similarity with water reservoirs, the implementation of water dams has allowed farmers to gain considerable water for growth as well as the development of water. However, this significant utilization of water has led to the overuse of natural water. With this, the rate of replenishment has constantly eluded the level associated with the utilization of the resource (Kirpich, 2009). As such, water supply has become restricted due to the implications of unavailability and inaccessibility. Lastly, the equipment seems by the coll of developing lasting technology.
