1. CONTROL

Control is the capability of applying restraint in any situation. It allows one to develop strength or authority over a person or an object. For example, in prison and jail systems, wardens are in charge of controlling prisoners.

• ACHIEVEMENT

Achievement refers to the accomplishment of exercises, obligations, and tasks through hard work and effort in order to lead to successful outcomes or results. For example, organizations carry out performance appraisals that gauge employees on their daily job accomplishments. For employees with high scores, this is seen as an achievement.

• OPPOSITION

Opposition involves asserting a form of resistance to a certain thing because of disagreements or disapproval towards it. Acts of opposition can occur in any setting due to the presence of rules. For example, a student may refuse to carry out an assignment given to him or her by his or her instructor.

• ATTRIBUTION

Attribution is the procedure that is applied in order to identify the factors that are responsible for causing specific behaviors or attitudes in people. For instance, an employee may consistently arrive to work at late hours because of factors such as stress, sickness, or problems involving transportation.

• ANGER

Anger refers to an emotional response that normally leads to a feeling of frustration or rage in extreme circumstances. For example, an act that involves irritation may cause the victim to become angry at the one responsible for causing it in the first place.

• DENIAL

Denial is a process that involves refusing to admit the results or outcomes of a specific situation regardless of proof. For instance, a person may refuse to accept the death of a loved one despite it being completely true.

• WITHDRAWAL

Withdrawal refers to the process of backing away from a person, a thing, or a situation. For example, an individual may choose to back away from an event such as a party due to his or her own personal reasons.

• PREVARICATION

Prevarication refers to the act of averting the truth by giving out a misrepresentation or a wrong impression regarding something or someone. For example, a student, when asked questions concerning his or her absence, may speak misleadingly in order to avoid from providing the truth.
