Analyze group

Members of groups come together and either succeed or fail based on a number of variables, including their level of cohesion.

An example of a group that had a great deal of cohesion is the U.S. Olympic hockey team that faced the Russians at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics. See page 127 in the text for a brief description of this winning Olympic team.

For your homework assignment this week, choose a well-known group (for example a winning – or losing – Super Bowl team, a political organization, or a corporation like Apple) and analyze the group on the basis of at least three of the following types of cohesion:

Social cohesion, such as:
Interpersonal attraction
Group-level attraction
Social attraction
Task Cohesion, such as:
Group motivation
Collective Cohesion, such as:
Identity fusion
Emotional Cohesion, such as:
Affect and relational cohesion
Structural Cohesion, such as:
Open and closed groups
Include the following information in your 2 – 3 page paper (not including required APA formatted title and reference pages):

Name and description of the group you are analyzing
Purpose or objectives of the group
Cultural or ethnic makeup of the group, as well as how this might affect the group’s cohesion
Analysis of at least three of the following types of group cohesion: Social, Task, Collective, Emotional, Structural
Concluding paragraph that summarizes your reflections about how the level of cohesion may influence the group’s relative success (or failure) in achieving its goals.
Submit your assignment as an MS Word document in APA format. Your assignment should be a minimum of two to three pages in length, not including the APA formatted title and reference page. You should use the text as your reference. This is how it should appear on your reference page:
