In the market model of society, individuals pursue their own interests even though all participants seek to benefit mutually from the exchanges. In comparison to the political community, all the proceeds are geared towards the collective effort. In the initial example, the drive to attain self-interest raises the economic profile of everyone in the society whilst in the latter model; individual behaviors drive the common census. In Starling’s texts, similar examples of the exchange in trade and benefits are depicted for the market model while the political community shows the similar philosophy on representation of the collective unit. Non-profit agencies fit in the public interest as contained in the goals of the community. The non-profit organizations derive the interests from an individual’s perspective with the clear philosophy on the society’s expectations towards common beliefs and improvements on interests.

Question 2

The principal-agent theory exists to show the making of decisions that impact on behalf of another individual, persons, or entity by a single agent. This is useful especially when there are stakes in several contentious matters of the society. It offers a chance of representation and easy decision-making as compared to the complex nature of involving every individual in the same setup. The cons of such workforce at the federal, state, and local levels are compounded by the selfish gains that the individuals might pursue at the expense of the rest. Additionally, such hidden workforce can be manipulated without consult from the society. An experience with contractors was during a tendering process acquisition of a local road network. The main motivating factor for the contractors was the financial gain expected at the expense of the funding from local means.
